So, last summer Emily and I were driving in the car together and a song came on that I had never heard before in my life…but Emily got so excited, turned up the music and started singing every word!

She said, “I love this song!!” To which I said, “I have never even heard it before.” And she kinda sorta flipped out because she could not believe it. Then, she said, “I guess you really are 10 years younger than me!” (Update to the story: I have seen Pitch Perfect, so now I, too, can sing almost every word to that song!)
Then, the other day at the party Em threw for Tim and Santi, Steve and I were sitting next to each other and this song came on.
I said to Steve, “doesn’t this song remind you of the movie, Matilda?!” And he thought for a second and then said, “No, not at all…this song reminds me of high school!”
Basically, there is a huge generation gap that we are all noticing a lot lately. It’s kind of funny because most of the time I don’t really feelĀ that much younger…so it takes us by surprise. (Although they probably don’t think it’s as funny because it reminds them of how much older they are.)
I am right in the middle of that generation gap! I totes remember Ace of Base (reminds me of Wellesley) AND that other song totally reminds me of Matilda. XO
