Academy Awards Best Dressed 2015

We are back with Oscars’ Best Dressed!  Let me set the scene for you… I am sitting here in my sweat pants and Sesame Street “All My Homies Are From the Streets” t-shirt (obviously it’s Allison bc the other two wouldn’t be caught dead in lame, mis matching pajamas) writing to you about the best dressed from last night’s Academy Awards…

EMILY’S BEST DRESSED

EmilyBestDressed

Rosamund Pike

Everything about this look is DDG (Drop Dead Gorgeous).  I especially love the combo of the unexpected yet conservative neckline and the sexy maxi slit.  Kelly Osborn always comments that the way a dress fits can make or breaks a look.  This has always stuck with me.  As I started to pay attention to this, it has proven to be totally true.  This look is a perfect example.  The dress fits her perfectly and shows off her waistline.  Well done Rosie… I was a little worried after your last 2 looks. (Globes, SAG)

Scarlett Johansson
ScarJo.  Wow!  DDG.  I just love how she made a statement and I love the color.   Now, I’m actually shocked this was one of my favorite looks.  The funny thing is that I don’t especially love the dress, the necklace, the hair on their own but the combo is perfection!  Here is another example of great tailoring.
Lupita Nyong’o
What a show stopper! The detail is so beautiful. The back is so unique.  She looks amazing.
Honorable mention.  GP.  I loved the color, the fit and the one sleeve.  Come on… the flower is pretty

 ALLISON’S BEST DRESSED

AllisonBestDressed

I have a feeling everyone is going to disagree with me.  I probably shouldn’t have told you about my sweatpants and Big Bird t-shirt at 12:30 in the afternoon… Anyways….

Gwyneth Paltrow

I have a soft spot for GP.  She really can do no wrong in my eyes.  She was at the gym bright and early this morning… even after a night at the Oscars!  #Dedicated #Badass.  I told her this morning that she looked absolutely gorgeous last night.  Like Emily said, love the soft pink, the one sleeve, the fit and the flower!

Emma Stone

As I look over my group text from last night, Patty and Caroline did not like Emma’s look.  Well, this girl (me) did.  I loved her hair, hair color, her make up, her lip color, the dress, the color of the dress, the bracelets, the open back, the matching shoes…. loved it!  I thought it was a color combo (dress and lipstick) that hasn’t really been seen on the red carpet!

Naomi Watts

At first, I didn’t even recognize her!  Loved the black and silver.  Loved that she took a risk!  I always love an edgy look!

Honorable Mention: Reese Witherspoon

The reason Reese got my honorable mention was because of her smile!  She was beaming and radiating happiness in this picture!!  Stunningly classic look for the evening.  She also posted a gorgeous picture of her on her Instagram too… Gorge.

 CAROLINE’S BEST DRESSED

CarolineBestDressed

Reese Witherspoon

This girl can do no wrong. And that is why she is my number one pick. Seriously, I don’t think she has ever worn something that I didn’t love! She always goes with the classic, timeless, and elegant look. And this time was no different. It was exactly that – classic, timeless, and elegant!

Jennifer Lopez

I was totally shocked when I saw that this was the dress that Jennifer Lopez picked. I was expecting her to choose something skin-tight, but this gown made for a beautiful surprise. Elie Saab is the designer of this dress and he is my all-time favorite. So, it’s not all that surprising that one of his dresses ended up in my top choices, even if who is wearing the dress did surprise me. I think it’s exquisite.

Cate Blanchet

I gasped when I saw Cate. She is absolutely stunning and I think the black gown looked absolutely amazing on her. That turquoise necklace made for the perfect statement piece, being a pop of color that starkly contrasts the black gown and brings out her fiercely blue eyes.

Hope you all enjoyed our Best Dressed!!  The girls have been busy!  Emily just got back from her #Tardymoon to Australia, I have been busy with my production company (Lineage Entertainment Group), and Caroline has been busy with school and helping Mindy Weiss with all her amazing weddings and parties!  Until next time!  XOXO

Where in the world did Caroline go?

Hi! It’s me…Caroline! Do you even remember who I am? It’s okay if you don’t…it has been way too long. But, I am back now! So, let’s catch up where we left off…The past few weeks at school have been pretty crazy, which is a complete understatement. You see, moving in to an apartment brings on a lot of grown up responsibilities that were pretty stressful (what do you mean the gas is turned off?!). Also, there is this thing called Rush that completely takes over your life. That is not a complete understatement…I actually didn’t have control of my life for about a week and I’m currently in the process of taking back control. I won’t go into every detail of my schedule that week, but just know that going to school and going through recruitment of our new sorority members at the same time often results in only sleeping about two hours a night, pumping caffeine into your veins, taking notes with your eyes closed, etc. But, it’s over now and in the end, I realized just how rewarding that sleep depriving, exhausting week of Rush is. We have the cutest new members, of that I am absolutely sure of. And as a sorority, we grew closer together through the process of finding our new Kappas!

kappas1^^Oh those tired eyes. This was the day after the two hour night sleep!

kappas^^We just had to take a selfie. (I’m in the way back!)

^^See what I mean…they are just the cutest! Welcome to Kappa, girlies xo

Rush ended on Monday. And on Monday afternoon, something happened to a friend of mine that left me feeling completely helpless, shaking with fear, and with nowhere to turn except to God. Fortunately, everything ended in the best possible scenario given the circumstances. Thank God. It’s not something that I want to share on our blog because I want to respect my friend’s privacy. But, the reason I do bring it up is because I want to remind everyone to be kind and show compassion to everyone around you. You really have no idea what the person standing next to you is going through. Remember to extend a helping hand and to be a source of comfort and positivity in the lives around you. And, also, remember that you can always ask for help, that no problem is unsolvable, that everything will be okay in the end, and if it isn’t, then it isn’t the end. Remember to never give up and always look for the beauty, magic, and love in the world around you. I promise you that it is there.

I’m going to leave you with a few quotes of inspiration for this new week…

The 2014 Emmy Red Carpet

Award Shows are back! You know what that means….our Red Carpet Favorites!! Yay! Here were our favorites from last nights Emmys:

emmyredcarpet1

Sarah Hayland:  I thought Sarah’s look was stylish, elegant, and age appropriate.  I loved how she matched a timeless formal full skirt with a trendy crop top.  It is an update and a nod to the days when Carolina Herrera was wearing a collared shirt with the formal skirt.  I think Sarah is really serious about her career and last night she showed that she wants to play with the big kids and is here to stay.  And clearly she got the emmy memo – wear coral!

Lizzy Caplan: I absolutely loved the neckline and the cut outs and on this dress.  Initially I thought the white train would be better black but I definitely warmed up to it.  Every now and again it’s good shake things up a bit and do something a little out of the ordinary.  Wouldn’t you agree?!

Heidi Klum:  The whole look from head to toe was fab and fresh.  The dress fit perfectly.  It was simple with a statement.  I love that she wore her hair down and wavy and that her makeup looked natural.  Most of the time, Heidi’s award show looks are not so hot and look like she is trying too hard.  She is so stunningly beautiful that she doesn’t need much to wow us.  She nailed it last night. And she got the coral memo.

emmyredcarpet2

I loved all three looks because they were both classy and edgy at the same time!

Claire Daines:  What a gorgeous, vibrant red!  She just pops in this Givenchy gown!  I love the lace cutouts that carry around to a sheer lace back.  With a jeweled neckline like that, you can keep the jewelry simple… which is exactly what she did!  Low maintenance! Loved the whole look… from head to toe!

Camila Alves: I’m such a sucker for sheer cut outs!!  And they can totally be trashy!  But Camila pulls it off in this white and sheer Zuhair Murad gown.  The silhouette of the dress was timeless yet the design was edgy.  I also love seeing hair down on the red carpet!  Camila always looks stunning.

Sarah Hyland:  Copy and Paste what Emily said right here!  I couldn’t agree with her more!  Loved the whole look!  Including the top knot!  Fun fact: She couldn’t fit into her car when it was time to leave!  She tweeted, “I’m taking an uber SUV to the #Emmys because my car was too small for my dress…,”

emmyredcarpet3

Cat Deely: I think Cat looked beautiful. Most of the time I don’t like what she is wearing. But, I loved this one her. I probably would have done something about that large messy bow. But the colors are simply stunning.

Lena Headey: I love this asymmetrical, one shoulder, textured gown. I like that she kept the look pretty simple with the jewels. Her make up and hair was spot on. And the shoes go nicely too. I think I would like to have seen her spice it up a tad with the shoes, but the ones she chose work and let the dress take the spot light. So, I guess I can’t be too picky.

January Jones: I love how bold and edgy her look is. It’s different and unique. I love the bold lip and how perfectly the edgy shoes go with that edgy ballgown.

Some of our favorite moments last night were Aaron Paul’s speech because he was so sweet and humble and we are obsessed with Breaking Bad and also seeing Halle Berry present because we got our nails done earlier that day and she was there too (she chose light pink nail polish)!!

We can’t wait until the next award show!
