Oscars: Red Carpet 2013

Spring Break went by way too quickly (Time does fly when you’re having fun!) and I have some fun posts coming soon about my break…but first, let’s talk RED CARPET!

The Oscars are my favorite of the award shows. And the stars usually get really dressed up for this event more so than the others…so that makes me love it even more! I had a pretty tough time choosing who made my top 5 list! And if that wasn’t hard enough…I then couldn’t decide who ranked first, second, third, fourth or fifth! But, I have finalized my list and I am happy with how it turned out.

So, without further ado….drumroll please!!

Number One

Naomi Watts! I really went back and forth on who I thought deserved first place…I kept thinking it needed to be someone in a big extravagant ball gown (who is now in the number 2 spot) but every time I looked at Naomi I was just stunned. The dress is so unique and so perfect on her. I mean the cutout of this gunmetal Armani Privé dress is just brilliant. Her hair and makeup is absolute perfection. The earrings are perfect. Can I say the word “perfect” any more times? There isn’t a single thing I would change about her look. And that is why she found her way to the top of my list!

Number Two

Amy Adams! She looks so stunning in this grey Oscar de la Renta gown. The delicate jewels, the soft make up, and the elegant updo made this beautiful look seem so effortless. I really think she nailed it. The only reason she didn’t score my number one spot is because I have seen gowns similar to it before. That doesn’t discredit how amazing she looks…it just didn’t have the extra “wow” factor that Naomi’s dress did.

Number Three

jennifer-lawrence-435

Jennifer Lawrence! This dress is exactly what an Oscar winner should wear…so seeing as she won, I can’t think of a more perfect gown for her (even if it did make her trip on her way up to the stage)! I never would have thought to wear the long necklace down her back with this dress but surprisingly to me it works! It is just the right amount of dazzle, along with the earrings and the ring, without taking away from the gown. If I were ranking of my favorite personalities, she would win. She is so down-to-earth, so personable, and so darn funny! Yes, I have a girl crush on her.

Number Four

charlize-theron-290

Charlize Theron! Before I even talk about the dress…let’s talk about her hair! There are so many mornings I wish I could just chop off all my hair so I would never have to spend close to an hour blowdrying again. And let me tell you something…if I looked as beautiful as she does with that haircut, I would! But now, back to the dress…another Dior Haute Couture! This peplum dress with the cutout neckline and long train looks like it was made for her. The whole look is simply exquisite!

Number Five

jessica-chastain-290

Jessica Chastain! I love that she matched her gown to her hair! (I really do love when things match…because “it all ties together”!) That red lip was a brilliant choice because it really brought her look to life. I’m afraid without that bright red lipstick, she may have looked washed out. And she was anything but washed out that night! She looked so glamorous with a touch of Old Hollywood…and I just loved it!

The Cutest Couple

You guessed it! It’s still Ben and Jen. I don’t think I’m ever going to get over how cute they are.

But, for the first time, someone did come in a close second…Channing and Jenna! So, I figured they should get a little shout out too.

And that concludes the Oscars! Best Oscars yet…in my opinion, at least!

Who did you think was the best dressed?

Grammy Awards Red Carpet 2013

The Grammy’s are one of my favorite award shows because it is always so entertaining with all the music performances! I always find myself dancing in my seat to every performance. And they didn’t disappoint this year…it was a fantastic show!

The attendees made it pretty easy for me to come up with my top 5 best dressed this year. After watching the red carpet, I looked down at all the names I wrote down and I had exactly 5! All I had to do is decide where each of them ranked. And the list has been finalized!

So, you know what to do…drumroll please!

Number One

RIRI

Rihanna. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was my number one! Everything about it was so perfect. She looked so stunning in this custom red Azzedine Alaïa gown. Her hair was elegantly beautiful. The lipstick matched perfectly. The nail polish matched perfectly. And when things match perfectly…I am a happy girl!

Number Two

NAT

Natasha Bedingfield. She looked like “a pocket of sunshine” in this flirtatious red lace cutout Emerson gown. The unexpected metallic belt is such a statement and it surprisingly totally works with her look. The simple hair and earrings allows our attention to be directed on the gown…and rightfully so!

Number Three

ADELE

Adele. Oh my gosh. I was jumping up and down cheering when I saw her. FINALLY, she is wearing something other than black!!! And that something is rather exquisite. She looked so bright and beautiful in this red floral Valentino dress. And the shoes are the perfect match…literally the same pattern! The retro hair and makeup worked so well with her look. I am still excited for her that she broke out of her comfort zone…and nailed it.

Number Four

CARRIE

Carrie. She looked dazzling in this black Roberto Cavalli gown. And the $31 million necklace put the finishing touches on her classic and glamorous look. I would have liked to have seen her hair up in a structured updo. But, other than that I think she looked fabulous.

Number Five

KELLY

Kelly. This dress is amazing. But, I don’t really love anything else. The hair…sometimes I really like the way she rocks her purple hair. But, it needed to be touched up; her roots were so obvious and made her hair look ashy. The ponytail covered up the best part of the dress: THE BOW on the back! The jewelry was pretty but just didn’t do anything for me with this look. The dress though…is awesome.

I can’t wait to see what everyone is going to wear on the Red Carpet at the Oscars in only a couple weeks!!

SAG Awards: Red Carpet 2013

I have finalized my best-dressed list from the SAG Awards this past weekend!! Unfortunately, Allie and I missed a bit of the beginning of the red carpet because we were at the movie theatre watching Argo. But, I have the Internet to thank for coming to my rescue! (I don’t regret missing the beginning because the movie was that good…and that’s saying something)

So, without further ado….drumroll please!

Number One

Marion-Cotillard-SAG-awards

Marion Cotillard. I have to admit…when I first saw Marion step onto the red carpet, I wasn’t blown away. BUT, the more I looked at her…the more I fell in love. And she made her way to the top of my list! This two-toned, full-skirt gown was tres chic (I study French now)! Her stunning makeup, delicate jewelry, and confidence were the perfect cherries on top of this Dior gown. Oh and you know I’m a sucker for bows. J’adore Dior.

Number Two

Helen Hunt. First of all, she is 50-something years old. Second of all, she killed it and totally held her own among the young bombshells out there! The shimmery, Romona Keveza gown alone would have scored her a spot on my top 5 list. But the gunmetal clutch, edgy diamond necklace and bangles she complimented the dress with made her look extraordinary and brought her up to the number two spot. You go girl!

Number Three

chastain-seyfried-garner-660

Amanda Seyfried. I love this Old Hollywood look! With the rich-navy, mermaid Zach Posen gown; the soft, vintage, side-swept curls; and the surprising art-deco pendent; Amanda looked gorgeous. My only wish was that she went softer on the eye make-up.

Number Four

Naomi Watts. This is the second time in a row she has made it onto my top 5 list! This girl knows what she is doing. She looked so lovely in the grey lace Marchesa gown. The earrings were just the right amount to keep the attention on the dress, yet still make a statement. This look wasn’t anything daring; it was classic and elegant. And that is exactly what I love about it.

Number Five

Jenna Fischer. Doesn’t she just seem to sparkle? She has never wowed me on the red carpet before, but there is always a first time for everything! She seemed so comfortable in the black short-sleeved gown with gold sequins. And the hair, the makeup, the simple jewelry, the matching clutch were the perfect touches to complete her effortlessly beautiful look!

A Couple Shoutouts

These two did not make my top 5 best-dressed list, but I still think they deserve some recognition!

Kiernan Shipka is such a cutie! For a thirteen year old, I thought this age-appropriate Oscar de la Renta dress was so perfect for her.

Nina Dobrev is wearing my favorite designer Elie Saab! To me, he is a genius. This isn’t his most amazing masterpiece, but it is still worth the recognition. And Nina looks pretty amazing in the dress (although I would have chosen different accessories).

And The Cutest Couple Award Goes To….

 jennifer-garner--a

Jennifer and Ben! (Again) Will I ever choose another couple? Probably not. They are just too cute to beat!
