My Thanksgiving vicariously lived through Pinterest

The Ott’s are all going to be celebrating Thanksgiving apart this year. :(  I am so sad.  This also means that I won’t be cooking up a yummy Thanksgiving dinner with them either.  I kept seeing all these recipes on Pinterest the other night that I won’t be able to make!  So I am sharing them with you… Here are my must have recipes for Thanksgiving… courtesy of Pinterest and fellow bloggers.

The Glitter Guide posted an elegant DIY Thanksgiving Tablescape idea…  I love this centerpiece because it’s not your typical Thanksgiving orangey and yellow colors!  And I love the gold accents!  This is how I would have set the table….

Doesn’t this turkey look divine? Roast Turkey with Black Truffle and White Wine Gravy.

I love Martha Stewart’s Simple Stuffing… I always add cooked sausage to this recipe!

Thanksgiving is not Thanksgiving without Sweet Potatoes Casserole… with little marshmallows on top!

Call me crazy… but I have to have this jello salad as a part of my Thanksgiving dinner!  It’s better than cranberry sauce.  Thank you to the Wald family for introducing it to us Otts.

This has been a recent addition to my Thanksgiving must haves… Corn Souffle. Oh, so yummy.

Did anyone notice that I did not include a healthy, green vegetable dish??? No green beans or brussels sprouts or spinach?? I say, “no, thank you” to those in my imaginary Thanksgiving!

And don’t worry… I definitely did not forget dessert!  I have to have apple pie!  Milly would always whip up apple and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving!

This apple pie recipe is courtesy of Robyn Stone from Add a Pinch!

Why isn’t today Thanksgiving ?!  I’m hungry….

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish??

Same Page Monday

1.  Caroline sent me this text yesterday…. ” For some reason I have bubble butt stuck in my head and it made me think of you.  I miss you!!!!” What does that say about me?  Should I be offended?

BubbleButt

2.  I watched Bridget Jones’s Diary over the weekend.  Fact:  I know all the lines of Bridget Jones’s Diary by heart.  What does that say about me?  Should I be worried?

3.  I’ve been working on a scene in acting class.  Sometimes, you need to get the character up on its feet to know whether you are on the right path or not.  My character is much younger than me and is falling in love.  After I put up the scene last week, I realized that I was looking at this character with my 26 year old eyes/brain and all my experiences.  I wasn’t finding the excitement of falling in love like a 17 year old girl would have!   I realized that Allison (not the character) kinda fell out of love with the idea of falling in love.  What does that say about me?  Should I be concerned?

Acting Class

You can see me thinking hard in this picture… (READ IN BRITISH ACCENT) “And that was it.  Right there.  Right there, that was the moment.  I suddenly realized that unless something changed soon I was going to live a life where my major relationship was with a bottle of wine… and I’d finally die, fat and alone, and be found three weeks later half-eaten by wild dogs. Or I was about to turn into Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.”  JUST KIDDING.  That was Bridget Jones.

Anyways, this past week I’ve been falling back in love with the idea of falling in love!

My favorite thing I’ve done has been dancing around my room and singing to Whitney Houston! Try it… it’s fun!!

4.  Patty used the term “baby mama” in a conversation last week.  What does that say about her?  Should we be worried?  Just kidding, Mom!  I loved it and think you’re cool!

5.  Emily did a whole post on what Ivy wore.  What does that say about her?  Should we be concerned?  Who wants to break the news to her that Ivy is a dog??  Just kidding, I absolutely loved it!  I want more pictures of Ivy!!

6.  Next Thursday is Thanksgiving… not this Thursday but next Thursday.  In two Thursdays, it’s Thanksgiving.  11 more sleeps.

7.  Patriots play tonight! MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!  YAY!  Emily… that means Steve will be busy tonight.

And that’s it for this Monday.  Does anyone else have any updates for me?? XOXO

Bananas Fosters Bread

A TWIST ON BANANA BREAD!

When I came across this recipe from Taste of Home, I knew I had to make it for my friend, Dustin. Dustin’s favorite dessert is Bananas Fosters. It was his birthday a few weeks ago, so I thought this would be a perfect birthday treat for him.  Dustin loves all things banana and he is very particular about his banana things… so I was really curious/worried if he was going to like it or not!  Well, he loved it!  He said it was so delicious and tasted a lot like the real dessert!  It was Dustin Approved… so this recipe really is a hit!

If you read my Pumpkin Roll post last week, you will remember my awkwardly place pumpkin decoration.  Well, I kinda thought that maybe that should be my signature move from now on!

So this time, I brought in a monkey…

Caramelized bananas with rum!  Yummy!

Monkey helped stir the batter.  He also watched over the loaf while it was baking!

He was pretty helpful… BUT…

Monkey2

You can’t leave this monkey alone for one second!!  He easily gets himself into big trouble.

I walked into the other room, and when I came back…. I found him like this!!!!

Monkey3

I felt like Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean!  Why is the rum gone?????

Because the monkey drank it.  Sneaky little fella!

^ Here it is!  While posing for this picture he said… “I made dis!”.

Then we whipped up the glaze and put it in a little container on the side.  Wrapped up the loaf.  And then delivered it to Dustin!

Confession: I had a little too much fun playing around with that little monkey… I am kinda embarrassed to say.

Let me know if you try out the recipe!  XO
