Tipsy Peach Iced Tea

tpit

Remember last week when I posted about Julia’s Tea Party Shower? Well, I mentioned that I would post the recipe for the signature cocktail that we served: The Tipsy Peach Iced Tea.  It is an easy and refreshing summer cocktail recipe to have in your back pocket the next time you are entertaining.

TipsyPeachIcedTea

The Ingredients:
1 oz. of Vodka
1 oz. of Peach Liqueur
1 oz. of Peach Schnapps
1 oz. of Spiced Rum
6 oz. of Sweet Tea
Optional: Mint, Lemon & Peaches for garnish

All these bottles might seem intimidating.  Trust me,  is so super simple because you are just mixing the ingredients together!  You don’t need a cocktail shaker and you don’t have to squeeze any juices!

Fill a mason jar full of ice, grab your jigger and mix up all the ingredients.  I like to add mint leaves, lemon slices and peach slices to make it look more fancy than it really is!!

Here are the ratios if you are making a pitcher or filling a drink dispenser: 1 cup of the Vodka, Peach Liqueur, Peach Schnapps, Spiced Rum and 6 cups of Sweet Tea.

Cheers! Enjoy the first weekend of summer!!!

A Tea Party Bridal Shower for Julia!

My best friend Julia is getting married a week from today!!  You all probably remember Julia from her Nantucket Girl feature.  In honor of her upcoming nuptials, Patty, Caroline & I hosted a bridal shower for her.  We decided on a tea party theme!

SIDE NOTE: I have something to admit.  I have grandma tendencies.  I mean I know it is obvious that I love my grandmas.  But I also love grandma decor.  I started collecting vintage tea cups when I was 16.  Yep.  And I own a lot of hobnail.  Steve loves it.

Vintage teacups, cake stands, paper fans, doilies, pretty posies, mason jars tied with lace, paper straws and banners.

We wanted to spice up opening presents so we had a an idea that involved the groom to be!  Before the shower, we sent off a questionnaire to Julia’s fiancé Steve.  We asked him questions like: What is Julia’s favorite flower? What did Julia wear on their first date?  What movie star does Julia remind you of? etc.  In between opening each presents we asked Julia the same questions to see if their answers matched!  It’s kind of  like the Newlywed Game.  Julia did really well!  I think they are meant to be!

Thank you to everyone who came to help shower the bride to be!  We love you Julia and can’t wait to celebrate you and Steve on June 21st!!

Happy 1st Birthday Ivy!

Ivy'sBirthday1Oh little Ivy girl!  You are one year old today!!  Do you even know it?  Maybe the steak for breakfast might have tipped you off?  Or maybe the fact the I made you pose with a stupid crown on your head? (Stayyy…. Look!!!)  Nevertheless, it is a special day because you made this past year a great one.

Ivy'sBirthday

I know it has been a big year for you –  lots of training, learning tricks, exploring Nantucket, making friends and being the best buddy Steve & I could ask for.  But it has also been a big year for me too!  You are my first pet!  I had no idea how much love I had to give.  When we first brought you home, I would cry just looking at you because you were so sweet and I was so happy you were a part of our family.  I especially love when you bomb down the stairs and are so excited to see us every time we walk through the door.  There isn’t a better feeling than that!IvyBirthday5

I also had to learn how to train you!!  You are a very good pup so you made it easy on me.  But those times that I had to be stern were pretty hard on me!! I know I need to toughen up.  We take a big walk every single day.  These walks have become just as important to me as they are to you.  The fresh air, the exercise and exploring new parts of the island are good for both of us!IvyBirthday4Ivy, you are the best! Happy Birthday my sweet little pup!! We love you!! ivybirthday

OK, enough with the mushy gushy!!  I need to tell you about the very exciting Ivy adventure we had today!! While walking in the moors with Patty, Allie & Caroline we heard a strange little animal noise… We all stopped and started searching.  It took awhile, but just off the side of the path underneath some leaves we found a little kitten!!ivysbirthday6Poor little thing out there all by itself!!  So we scooped it up and made our way to the Offshore Animal Hospital.ivybirthday7On our way there we picked out names… naturally.  Gloria if it was a girl (after Gloria Gaynor’s song “I Will Survive”) and Frankie (after Ol’ Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra) if it was a boy.ivybirthday8Well it’s a boy!  Frankie is now in good hands.  ivybirthday9We will check in with the vet tomorrow – follow me on Twitter for updates!
