Airport Style Trends

Random fact about me… I love airports. I love going to airports and I love flying.  It’s always exciting!  You’re either going somewhere you love or somewhere new, or coming back home, or picking up a visitor… and there is amazing people watching at airports.

Another random fact about me… I hate packing.  And I really should be packing right now for my trip. Or at least organizing outfits to wear with perfectly planned accessories.  (Like Patty, Emily and Caroline.  They are all really good at this… I did not get that gene.)  Instead of packing, I got sidetracked looking up “airport style” on Pinterest.  I love airport style.  It really is important to pick an awesome yet comfortable travel outfit.  Here are some of the trends I saw…

Black Blazer or Black Leather Jacket with a big grey scarf!

Note to self: Go get a grey scarf.

All Black.  Love all black.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely (left) had the best airport styles.  Look her up.

Plaid with Ray Bans.

I love the grey shirt under the red and black buffalo plaid!

Note to self: go get grey t-shirt.  And look for my ray bans that I haven’t seen in months (hopefully I didn’t loose them).

Miscellaneous.

Emma: Love the grey coat!  And the cool leather back pack in camel.

Rosie:  Love the mixing of tan and black!

GP: LOVE the red boots.  And the grey bag and grey sweater.

I seriously don’t own anything grey?  How did I miss that very important color?  All the cool kids wear grey!

This pinteresting really helped.  Now, I am focused and can start packing!  Nobody call or distract me!  Just kidding.  Do it.  I still don’t really like packing!  XO

Same Page Monday on Tuesday

1.  Caroline is totes annoyed that Taylor Swift keeps copying her hair cuts.  The girls woke up to this text from Caroline this morning with this picture… “Can she stop copying me!  When I cut my bangs… she got them cut.  When I chopped my hair… she chopped hers.”  She’s totes joking, people.  We don’t take ourselves that seriously!  I totes used totes in this post.

2.  Em got a new car last week!  I asked her to send me a picture and she sent me this!  It’s her little tradition to take a picture of her standing on top of the roof of her new car!

3.  Serious business.  It rained in LA (off and on) for 3 days in a row last week.  I think we are all still recovering from the “craziness”.  LA can’t handle rain.  Hikes were cancelled, dinner plans were cancelled, people didn’t go to the gym because they didn’t want to drive in the rain, people had to buy umbrellas that they will never use again, hair got wet, the Oscars Red Carpet was almost ruined by the rain… I mean it was crazy.

4.  Jimmy Fallon is really nailing it with the Tonight Show.  I actually don’t watch it but Emily mentioned it to me the other day, so I thought I would pass it along to you guys.  I always catch clips of it and love it!  Maybe he should host the Oscars next year??

5.  We are in the final countdown for our Europe trip to visit our little Cezzie!!  One week and a day to go!  Caroline what do you need from the United States of America?  Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter M&M’s, Ice??  Tell me now!  I am definitely going to make a Target run sometime before I leave.

6.  That’s it.  I think we are all on the Same Page now.  Good.  I will get back to you if I think of anything else! XO

Oscar Party Treats!

OscarParty

The Oscars are tomorrow!  Are you having a viewing party??  The Milly & Grace Girls love any excuse to throw a little party… and an Oscars Party is one of my favorites.  So I put together a few must have treats and traditions that would be perfect for an Oscar Party.

First up, Caramel Corn… When I think of popcorn, I think of the movies.  An easy way to fancy up this classic movie treat for an Oscar Party is to cover it with sweet caramel and edible gold stars!  I think Caramel Corn is going to be my newest Oscar Party Tradition…

OscarParty7

This was my first time making caramel corn… it was really easy!  I used this recipe but doubled the vanilla (I always double the vanilla in every recipe… especially my cookie recipes).  I sprinkled the Edible Gold Stars (available at Michael’s) after I took the popcorn out from the oven!

You can easily make customized popcorn bags!  All you need are these little white bags, letter stamps and a ink pad!  All available at Michael’s.

Red Licorice is a classic movie theater treat from the 1920’s.  I was reading up on Bon Appetit’s History of Movie Theater Treats that the war between Twizzler and Red Vine started in the early 20th century.  Fun Fact:  Twizzlers were born in the mid 1800’s and Red Vines were born in 1920.  I know I am not the only one that always thought that Red Vines were the original red licorice!  I used to be a Twizzler girl back in the day but now I LOVE Red Vines more! (Who knew I could write so much about red licorice?)

Chocolate Covered Strawberries are an Ott Oscar Party Tradition… I decided to fancy them up too with a sprinkle of gold! I might have gone a little crazy with the Edible Gold Stars!  That little tube of stars goes a long way.

And finally, every party has to have a signature drink!  In honor of Shirley Temple, I decided to try out a new cocktail.  Everyone knows the “Dirty Shirley” which is a Shirley Temple with Vodka.  But I thought I needed to keep it classy…

A Champagne Shirley Temple Cocktail was born!  Grenadine, Champagne, finished with Sprite and of course…. a cherry on top!

And there you have it!  A few sweet treats for your Oscar Party!  If you need something savory, you can always do a cheese plate or these amazing Chipotle and Rosemary Spiced Nuts.

That little Oscar in all those pictures above is from my 13th Birthday party!  Maybe one day… I’ll be able to replace it with a real one?!  A girl can dream!
