Ott European Invasion – Lausanne

ottlausanne1

I don’t know if you heard, but I had a major scare with all of my pictures. First, I lost all of the pictures from when my family came to visit me in Switzerland and our trip to Barcelona. Then, somehow I managed to get those back after some research online. But, when I got those back, the rest of my pictures disappeared. Luckily, I have Apple Care and was able to call them up once I got back to the states and they saved my life. It’s not the first time they’ve saved my life. Seriously, they are amazing. Anyway, now that I have all of them back I can post about the Ott European Invasion! Yay!

I was so excited to finally be able to show my family the town that I had called home for months. I remember walking to dinner the night before they came thinking ‘wait, they are going to walking these streets tomorrow’. I could not believe it was going to happen…but it did!

My sisters both sent me identical pictures when the Swiss boarder control let them in:

I showed them all around, gave them a tour of my house (you can see a tour here), took them to the Cathedral and to get the best swiss hot chocolate in town. We had picnics down by the lake, they visited the Olympic Museum while I was in class, and of course we had to have some fondue!

Movie Review: The Other Woman

TheOtherWoman

I went to see “The Other Woman” last weekend… and if you didn’t see it this weekend then you should definitely see it next weekend!  Despite bad reviews, “The Other Woman” beat all “The Other Movies” at the box office last weekend!  I had been dying to see it ever since I saw the pictures of Cameron and Leslie filming in New York… and it did not disappoint.  It was hilarious, cute and a little ridiculous at points, but that was to be expected, right?  It was a fun movie about friendship and the importance of having girlfriends that will always have your back!  I was laughing the whole time!  Check out the trailer below…

I personally think Leslie Mann is beyond funny in this amazingly quirky way.  She definitely stole the show!  Her sense of humor and comedic timing is impeccable and unique.  Love her.  (I am a huge This Is 40 fan too.)  And you can never go wrong with Cameron Diaz.  She is so likable, gorgeous, sexy and silly… and can be all of those at the same time!  That’s rare.  The two of them together were a perfect comedic match.

Nikki Minaj did a hilarious job, and I won’t be surprised if she gets casted in more movies!

Nick Cassevetes directed the movie.  Like The Notebook, which he also directed, it was beautifully shot in beautiful locations with beautiful women.

Taylor Kinney, Lady Gaga’s boyfriend, played Leslie Mann’s brother and Cameron Diaz’s other love interest.  He is a hottie!  The whole time I was trying to picture him with Lady Gaga!?

The three girls did a huge press tour for this movie.  They were everywhere!  Cameron stopped by our favorite, Jimmy Fallon, and did this funny photobomb segment.  I love it when people don’t take themselves too seriously! Check it out..

The Mint Julep – Just in time for the Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby starts today!  That means everyone is drinking Mint Juleps.  I’ve never made a Mint Julep before and I’m not usually a fan of bourbon so I had my work cut out for me.  I checked out a couple of recipes and played around with ingredients and came up with one that works for me.  What it came down to is that bourbon is pretty strong so I needed to sweeten it up a bit!

The tools:
-Cocktail shaker (Like this Mason Jar shaker that is available at Milly & Grace!)
-Muddler
-Classic Mint Julep CupMintJulep
The ingredients:
Handful of fresh mint
1oz of lemon juice
1 TB & 2 tsp of brown sugar
4oz of bourbonmintjulep1Add the mint, lemon and sugar to the mason jar shaker.  Muddle it up and be sure to give a little elbow grease! MintJulep2
Add the bourbon and 2 handfuls of ice. Shake it up! Grab your Mint Julep cup (ours is from Flowers on Chestnut in Nantucket) and fill it with crushed ice. *Don’t have crushed ice? Put some in a ziplock bag, grab a wooden spoon and blow off some steam.* Pour your Mint Julep!mintjulep3
Garnish with some fresh mint & a cute straw of course!mintjulep5
Happy Friday & Happy Kentucky Derby!mintjulep4
If you end up trying this cocktail, let me know what you think!
