Thank you for thanking me

Happy Tuesday!

Thanksgiving is next week so I thought it was the perfect time to blog about the proper protocol for thanking people.

I guess I should say it’s MY proper protocol because most of you will find this ridiculous. :)

Imagine someone is browsing the Milly & Grace Online Boutique and decides to purchase a gift for you.

gifts

You get one of our lovely items in the mail and you are ecstatic!  You immediately rush to the Milly & Grace online boutique to purchase these cards to write a thank you note! (Please forgive the intentional Milly & Grace product placement.)

thankyou

You send out the thank you note and you wait… and you wait…  You don’t hear anything back… Did they receive the note?  Do they know how thankful you were for the gifts?  How will you ever know?  You go crazy thinking about this…

Well, Hallmark has got nothing on me because I came up with “Thank you for Thanking Me” Cards!

thankyou3

Let me give you the back story of how this concept came about…

While James and I were planning our wedding, I wrote out so many thank you cards to our loved ones.  I would constantly ask my friends and family, “Hey, did you get my thank you card?”  They would say “Yup! Ummm thanks?”

I told my friends that I feel people should acknowledge when someone sends them a thank you note.  One of my friends asked, ” So, wait, you expect a “Thank you” for thanking me!

I said, “Not necessarily a thank you for thanking me, but at least a “Hey! I got your thank you card!”

She said, “But where does it stop?  Then do you have to send a “Thank you” for “Thanking me” for “Thanking you” card!

After this conversation, my friend gifted me with custom “Thank you for thanking me” cards!

Then I sent her a thank you card for this thoughtful gift.  Then she sent me a “Thank you for thanking me” card! I believe we kept this going for about 6 times, meaning I wrote a “Thank you for thanking me for thanking you for thanking me for thanking you for thanking me for thanking you for thanking me, etc” card before we finally stopped the back and forth!

It was very humorous to us, but also I was very happy the “Thank-yous” were being acknowledged!

In conclusion, this Holiday season, remember to “Thank everybody who thanks you!

The world will be a much happier place! ;)

thankyou5

So, the next time you buy something at Milly & Grace , just write, “Thank you” in the notes section of your order and I will send you a “Thank you for thanking me” card with your item!  How is that for customer service! ;)

See you on Tuesdays!

Same Page Monday

1.  Caroline sent me this text yesterday…. ” For some reason I have bubble butt stuck in my head and it made me think of you.  I miss you!!!!” What does that say about me?  Should I be offended?

2.  I watched Bridget Jones’s Diary over the weekend.  Fact:  I know all the lines of Bridget Jones’s Diary by heart.  What does that say about me?  Should I be worried?

3.  I’ve been working on a scene in acting class.  Sometimes, you need to get the character up on its feet to know whether you are on the right path or not.  My character is much younger than me and is falling in love.  After I put up the scene last week, I realized that I was looking at this character with my 26 year old eyes/brain and all my experiences.  I wasn’t finding the excitement of falling in love like a 17 year old girl would have!   I realized that Allison (not the character) kinda fell out of love with the idea of falling in love.  What does that say about me?  Should I be concerned?

You can see me thinking hard in this picture… (READ IN BRITISH ACCENT) “And that was it.  Right there.  Right there, that was the moment.  I suddenly realized that unless something changed soon I was going to live a life where my major relationship was with a bottle of wine… and I’d finally die, fat and alone, and be found three weeks later half-eaten by wild dogs. Or I was about to turn into Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.”  JUST KIDDING.  That was Bridget Jones.

Anyways, this past week I’ve been falling back in love with the idea of falling in love!

My favorite thing I’ve done has been dancing around my room and singing to Whitney Houston! Try it… it’s fun!!

4.  Patty used the term “baby mama” in a conversation last week.  What does that say about her?  Should we be worried?  Just kidding, Mom!  I loved it and think you’re cool!

5.  Emily did a whole post on what Ivy wore.  What does that say about her?  Should we be concerned?  Who wants to break the news to her that Ivy is a dog??  Just kidding, I absolutely loved it!  I want more pictures of Ivy!!

6.  Next Thursday is Thanksgiving… not this Thursday but next Thursday.  In two Thursdays, it’s Thanksgiving.  11 more sleeps.

7.  Patriots play tonight! MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!  YAY!  Emily… that means Steve will be busy tonight.

And that’s it for this Monday.  Does anyone else have any updates for me?? XOXO

Puppy Update – What Ivy Wore!

Puppy update:  I can’t believe there was a life without her.  She’s such a lover and super rascally all at the same time.  She cracks me up – she is such a well behaved puppy but she also likes to test me and see what she can get away with.  Good thing is that she’ll do anything for a treat… at least I’ve got that going for me!!  Here is my most favorite picture of her taken by our very dear friend Tom Olcott of T. G. Oclott Photography.

Now I would like to do a little segment called:  What Ivy wore!  Don’t act like you didn’t see it coming!!  We all knew it would happen one day or another.  Ivy is a Milly & Grace Girl for goodness sake!!  She’s my fashionable little pup and tends to go for a more Ralph Lauren look.  My saving grace is that Steve actually thinks it’s cute.

Here she is in her shawl collar sweater.  This is perfect for staying in on windy nights and cozying up by the fire.

Next up is her buffalo plaid fleece.  Perfect for brisk walks down at the Boat Basin.  Ivy and I walk the docks a couple time a week.  Being a water dog and all she insists on checking in with the Harbor Master and making sure everything’s in ship shape.

Finally we have her in her neon orange brush walking jacket. Deer hunting is big on Nantucket and so we can never be too safe!  Plus it keeps her looking very sporty. (Steve bought this for her all on his own.  Yep.) ivyhunterivyhunter2Thanks for tuning in to What Ivy Wore!  Until next time!
