Same Page Monday

I’m in trouble.  Another tardy blog post.  Boss Lady Caroline busted me this morning.  I apologize to all of you who missed not being on the same page yesterday and had to wait till today.  I hope your whole week wasn’t thrown off on account of me.  I just got back yesterday from a weekend in San Francisco.  I will now get you all on the same page.

1.  It was Grace’s 80th Birthday last week!  The whole family gathered together in Northern California this past weekend to celebrate.  Happy Birthday to our sweet Grace!  (The picture on the right is of Grace and little Billy, our dad… 60 years ago.)

2.  Here I am, waiting for Emily and Steve to arrive at the airport last Friday… I might have a new career in chauffeuring, if the whole acting thing doesn’t work out.  I waited there with my Milly & Grace Girls post card with all those drivers with signs.  Waiting.  And waiting.  About 20 minutes after the first Red Sox hat sighting (which means the plane from Boston has deplaned), Em and Steve walked out.  I was the only “driver” left by the time they got there… because Em had to stop and get Pinkberry…

3. MISSING SILVER SHOE SPOTTED AT SFO.  ONE LONELY SILVER SHOE AT BAGGAGE CLAIM 3.  From Virgin America flight 905 from VEGAS to SFO.  It must have been a crazy week in Vegas.  A women with a glove on came and removed it from the carousel.  If you recognize your shoe, please call the following number, 650.763.5146.   Thank you.  Note:  Be careful while packing, people.  Don’t let this happen to your shoes.

4.  The Core Four stopped by our old house in Danville, CA.  It was the first house we built.  I was four months old when we moved in and 3 years old when we moved out.  Patty and Bill hand picked that big Japanese Maple tree that is still in the front!   So many memories.

corefour

You are probably wondering who the Core Four is…well it’s the name for our original family… the family before Caroline showed up 7 years after me!  (We still love you, Caroline!!)

5.  For some reason, we were just not “on” this weekend.  We had some major posing fails.

6.  Thanks to Emily, we had the following song stuck in our heads the whole weekend.  “What do you do when you got a cute puppy?   What do you do when you got a cute puppy?  You love ’em, you kiss ’em, you cuddle ’em too.”  Annoyingly catchy.  Obsessed much?

7.  The Patriots pulled out a win over the Dolphins on Sunday.  And the Red Sox are 3 and 2 in the World Series!! (After some crazy games.) They are heading home to Boston to claim the Championship.

8.  Oh and this happened last week.  Lady Gaga + Giant furry headpiece = ….. there are just no words……

Harry Potter World

I know it’s called Throw Back Thursday, but this week I am doing a Throwback Tuesday to when I went to Harry Potter World!

I remember the first time I went to Disney World as a kid.  I was so excited and stared in awe as all of my favorite Disney movies came to life before my eyes.

Well, that happened again for me as an adult when I went to Harry Potter World!

I love the Harry Potter books, actually let me rephrase that, I am obsessed with the Harry Potter books!  So, when my husband surprised me with a trip to Harry Potter World a couple of years ago I was about as excited as a kid at the Magic Kingdom.

So, let the adventure begin…. No Muggles please!

Right away when you walk in is a great photo opportunity of the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4

The park actually has a post office where you can send correspondence by Owl Post!  Owls won’t really deliver your mail though! ;)

We stopped at the Candy Store and picked up some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavored Bean.  I got booger flavor and James got dirt.

We stopped into Ollivander’s Wand Shop!

I really wanted to buy a wand.  They were $40.  James said, “Tim, you are a 30 year old man!  What will you do with a wand?”  I bought one anyway.   Through out the day, I decided to try and embarrass James by waving the wand in his face and screaming “Wingardium Leviosa” in my best British accent.  (I thought I was funny)  and since he didn’t want me to buy a wand, I made him hold Voldemort’s wand.

They serve Butter beer and I loved it!  It tasted like butterscotch and cream soda.  That might not sound good, but trust me, it was.

We even snuck into a souvenir shop and dressed up like a couple of Gryffindor Quidditch players.

But who am I kidding, the Sorting Hat would probably put me somewhere else.

Rude Sorting Hat!  I would not be in Slytherin!

Everything leads to the Main Attraction of the theme park – the castle of Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

The Hogwarts Castle is actually the line for one of the best theme park rides I have ever been on.  It was also one of the more entertaining lines to stand in because as you wait, there are many things to look at through out the castle.

Like Dumblebore’s Office, The Mirror of Erised and the Gryffindor Common Room Door.

As I mentioned, the ride inside the castle is one of the better rides I have been on.  It made me nauseous, but I still loved it.

I loved the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and strongly recommend going there if you love Harry Potter as much as I do.

See you on Tuesdays!

Over the Weekend

Hey, guess what?? I survived midterms!! It was a long, stressful, and seemingly impossible week. But, I am so glad it is over and I managed to get through it. I am also so glad we didn’t decide to travel this weekend. It is so nice to just have a couple of days where there is nothing to be done. I could just relax and use no brain power whatsoever (which was good cause it was completely fried). And that’s exactly what I did this weekend. Oh, and guess what else?? Fall has arrived in Lausanne!! Here are some pictures to prove it and a list of things I did over the weekend.

I slept in every morning

Wandered through the Farmer’s Market and Flea Market

Wished on dandelions

Ate gelato for lunch

Found a movie theatre that plays movies in the ENGLISH version. Hallelujah.

We saw The Butler. (I know I’m little late to the game on this one. But, if you haven’t seen it…you have to! It was really, really well done.)

Stayed up really late watching the World Series (games start at 2am here)

I finished the last episodes of the last season of Friday Night Lights. (Now what?)

Played UNO (It had been so long that I had forgotten how to play)

Ate Raclette for the first time and nearly fell out of my chair it was so good (Traditional Swiss meal with potatoes and melted cheese)

Got started on Christmas shopping

Planned a trip to PARIS (I’m so excited…I literally don’t know what to do with myself.)

Bought a new lipstick (I’m running out of room in my bag that holds my entire collection…must get a bigger bag)

I think this was one of my favorite weekends, so far. Sometimes the little things in life are the most wonderful. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend too! Happy Monday xoxo
