A Vineyard and a cute little town, called Vevey

When I first arrived in Switzerland, it was pretty hot, which is not at all what I was expecting. But, it has started to finally cool down and that makes me all giddy inside because I just adore cold weather.

On the first day that it started to feel cold outside, we went on a class trip to walk through the vineyards as an entire group. The vineyards were located right on the coast of Lake Geneva and the view was just the way you would picture Switzerland to be. We strolled through the vineyards for a couple hours. It took us a couple hours because everyone would stop every five minutes to take lots of pictures. We just had to capture the view! (Which I did…I took so many pictures I had to start deleting pictures off of my memory card to make room!) But you know what? If I would want to be stuck somewhere for quite a while, this vineyard sounds like a pretty perfect place.

And it gets even better! Once we finished walking through the vineyard, we all jumped on a train to a cute little town called Vevey.

It was also exactly how you would picture the streets of Switzerland to look like. Narrow winding stone streets with the cutest boutiques that each had their own completely unique style.

While we were exploring this little town, we stumbled across our friends sitting down at a little café eating gelato. We didn’t even think twice about stopping too. Gelato is always a must!  And I’m so glad we decided to join them because this was the best gelato I have had so far. (Cinnamon gelato is officially my new favorite flavor!) I dream about it at night.

After exploring Vevey for a few hours, we all met back up down at the dock on Lake Geneva to take one of the cutest boats back to our city of Lausanne.

It was one of the best days we have had so far! (But, I have a feeling I’m going to keep saying that a lot more times about days to come) I just love, love, love it here!

Halloween Costume Inspiration

At first, I thought it was way too early to start blogging about Halloween!  I mean, it’s still September!!!

Then I went into the store and realized all of the candy was out, everything was orange and black, tinsel kitties ;) and paper ghosts were in the aisles and before you know it, you will be having this conversation the night before that Halloween Costume Party you are attending:

You: “Hey, we have that costume party tomorrow night.”

Spouse or friend: “Oh yea… I forgot all about it.  How is it the end of October already?”

You: “What do you want to go as?”

Spouse or friend: “I don’t know.  Wish we would have planned farther ahead. I guess I will just be a sexy cat again. Next year let’s make sure we think about it prior to the night before so we can be like those “super cool” people who have themed outfits together!”

Have you ever had this conversation or something like it?

Well, I love Halloween!  Mostly because I love coming up with elaborate costume ideas!  Here are some of my favorite halloween costumes my husband and I have come up with over the last couple of years!

As you can tell, we go all out creating costumes, especially those masks!

It’s actually easier than you would think!  I will share our secret about how we made these Bert & Ernie masks!

  What You Will Need:

Large White Poster board, X-ACTO knife, Acrylic Paint, Super Glue and a Velcro strap (That’s it!)

How To Do it:

1.  Cut your poster board in the shape of the characters’ face.

2.  Cut a square for your head somewhere. (We chose to do it in Bert and Ernie’s mouths)

3.  Draw the character’s face.  (Most cartoon characters have fairly standard shapes that make up their face, so even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, you can still do it!

4.  Paint the character’s face.  Acrylic paint from a craft store works great and it is very inexpensive.

5.  Add Hair: We got a black wig from a costume store and cut it up and glued it to the poster board.

6.  Add the velcro strap to the back: Super glue a velcro strap in the back that will go around your head!

7. Have Fun!

Halloween is only a month away, so start thinking NOW about your costume ideas!  It will be here before you know it!

See you on Tuesdays! ;)

Same Page Monday

I just want to make sure we are all on the same page at the beginning of this new week.

1.  Miley stopped following her fiancé, Liam, on Twitter this weekend.  It sent the media into a frenzy.  It has now been confirmed that the two have called off their engagement and parted ways… as per People.com… who got confirmation from their reps.  Sounds legit.

I wonder which straw in particular broke this camel’s back?

I’m not going to be mean.  Hope they find happiness.

2. Caroline hiked 14 miles this weekend in the Alps!  14 miles.  The whole family is very proud of her.  One thing you might not know about Caroline is that she doesn’t like to break a sweat or get hot. I wonder if she did on this hike or if Switzerland is cold enough for her to work out and not sweat.  Get back to us on that one, Cezzie.

3.  Patty’s last three Instagrams were all of Ivy.  Ivy is proving to be the new favorite in the family, and I am not sure how I feel about that…

I am not even in the last 6.  What do I need to do to get some love??

What if I got my Mom some more Instagram followers!??! Maybe she will post about me?

EVERYONE…. GO FOLLOW OUR MOM ON INSTAGRAM!!!!

@PATTYOTT

DO IT!  She is so cute.  She comes up with some awesome hashtags. #coolmom

4.  I should be fired from Milly&Grace Girls because I didn’t take any pictures on my trip to San Francisco this past weekend.  MAJOR BLOGGER FAIL.  (I was just there for meetings.  Nothing touristy.)

5.  It’s September 16, 2013.

Ok, perfect.  We are all on the same page.  Now go and have a wonderful week.  XO

Note: Same Page Monday…. I was trying to get it to be like Throwback Thursday or Tuesdays with Tim but I couldn’t come up with anything more creative.
