Ventuno

Last week was Restaurant Week, a Nantucket Annual Tradition, and it is one of the greatest traditions this island has! Nantucket has the best collection of restaurants I have ever known…and Restaurant Week means 4 course meals for cheaper prices. So, how could we not participate?!

My mom and I decided to have a Mommy-Daughter night at one of our favorite restaurants: Ventuno!

We sat in Holly’s House, a little room with a bar, where our friend, Holly, bartends. Isn’t she just the cutest?

And then we enjoyed a fabulous dinner of….

A St. Germain and Soda for my mom

Ventuno4

Fried olives stuffed with sausage and Chickpea fries with tomato condiment & yogurt to start

Ventuno5

Griddled focaccia with mozzarella, oven-cured tomatoes, green olive, picked red onion & caper and Strozzapreti pasta with sausage, broccoli rabe, and parmesan cheese

Ventuno6

Grilled Nantucket scallops & shrimp, cauliflower, pinenuts, caperberry & lemon and Grilled prime sirloin, heirloom polenta, spinach, & cherry pepper agrodolce

Ventuno7

Bittersweet chocolate filled doughnuts, espresso gelato & chocolate sauce and Lemon tart & blackberry gelato for dessert

We were so stuffed by the end, but it was far beyond worth it. If you find yourself on Nantucket, this is the place to go for dinner! A-ma-zing.

The company was pretty good too…I love you, Mommy!

Tim & Santi’s Welcome to Nantucket Party!

A couple of months ago, I picked up the phone and made a call to a guy in Virginia who I’d never met.  I asked him if he would be interested in moving to Nantucket to be Milly & Grace’s Director of E-Commerce & Brand Development.  It only took 2 weeks to seal the deal and then 2 weeks after that Tim and his husband Santi packed up and moved up to Nantucket.  Moving to a little island 30 miles out to sea is no easy transition and I was so touched by Tim’s willingness to take a chance on me & the store, that I wanted to throw them a little party to welcome them!

The dessert table!  Our mom Patty is known for her immaculate party planning skills (She is also sometimes known as “crazy crazy matchy matchy party lady”) and she helped with the design. And Caroline did too!   Allison, Caroline & I just try to keep up and hope that she rubs off on us!!

Tim & his bevy of Ott girls!

Tim is known for always sporting a bow tie with his perfectly coordinated outfits.  (We think he might have been an Ott in a past life).  So that became our party inspiration and we even had bow tie cupcake toppers made!

The Party details!!  Of course I had to get the 100th Anniversary Blue Ball Heritage Jars to match our color theme! You can find them here!

Tim & Santi have only been on Nantucket for a couple of months but they are settling in quite nicely!  I think they may know more people than I do!  This is mostly attributed to the fact that they both have the biggest hearts and the most infectious dispositions.  When you meet these guys you can’t help but want to get to know them! Welcome Tim & Santi!  We are so happy you are here!

Wedding Wednesday

I have been collecting every issue of Martha Stewart’s Wedding magazine since I was about 8 years old. When I was cleaning out my room last year before moving to college, I found (bad) drawings of wedding dresses I designed years ago. I have memories of dressing up as a bride and making my dad be the groom so I could have a pretend wedding. I was also a bride for Halloween one year. If you didn’t know already, I am obsessed with all things weddings. And I almost think “obsessed” is an understatement. (I mean there isn’t one wedding video I have watched that didn’t bring a tear to my eye…even videos of strangers) So, I’ve decided to create a blog series called “Wedding Wednesday” that will include anything and everything that has to do with weddings, such as cute proposals, inspiration for your wedding day, honeymoon spots etc.

For my first installment of Wedding Wednesday, I created a color inspiration board. Usually when I’m looking on Pinterest, I am looking in the wedding section. So, an idea popped into my head to create a mini collage of random pictures I find on Pinterest or elsewhere on the Internet that would go together to create a pretty wedding. Then, I’ll pull colors that I see in the pictures to create a possible color scheme for a wedding. Here is the first one:

Happy Wedding Wednesday! I am so excited for this blog series and I hope you are too! xoxo
