Quest for the Best Breakfast Winner: BLD

Allie and I woke up early this past Sunday to beat the rush of Sunday Brunchers and continue our search for the Best Breakfast! This week we tried BLD.

Allie and I heard through the grape vine that BLD  had the best blueberry pancakes ever! So, of course we had to try it out…and we have a WINNER!

BLD HAS THE BEST BLUEBERRY PANCAKES WE HAVE EVER TRIED! Their secret is the ricotta cheese they put in the batter! And their syrup container is the cutest thing I have ever seen. So, bonus points!

The Eggs Benedict was pretty amazing too.

They grilled the Canadian Bacon (brilliant) and put a couple slices to thicken it. So, they scored points in the meat category. Their hollandaise sauce was so good; it had a kick of lemon, which was unique and delicious! But, the bread was where they lost points. It was a house-made English Muffin, which sounded promising to me. But, when I tried it, it actually tasted incredibly bland. If they work on that part of the dish, they might just have themselves two winning dishes! But, unfortunately, they left me still in the search for the best Eggs Benedict.

Luckily, the lovely woman sitting next to us happened to be an Eggs Benedict lover too and she gave us some suggestions of restaurants to try.  So, I have a feeling I’m not too far away from finding it!

Fingers crossed.

Waffle House with My Dad

Waffle House was always my dad’s and my thing. My mom was never crazy about it because she said she preferred to eat at a restaurant where she didn’t stick to the syrup caked onto the seats. While that is a reason that usually would keep me away from a restaurant as well, I love Waffle House anyway. The food seems to always hit the spot for me. But not only that, I love that it’s time spent with my dad. Talking about anything like jokes we’ve heard, stories from his childhood, or what I want to do with my life.

Another thing that I love is how we eat our food. We order the same thing every time. One waffle, two eggs over medium, ham, and triple order of hashbrowns that are to die for. Once all the food arrives at the table, we cut the waffle and the two eggs in half. Then, we put the egg on top of the waffle, drown it and syrup, and eat every last bite. This was the way my grandfather, my dad’s dad, always ate his waffle and eggs. I’m convinced that every time my dad and I go to breakfast at Waffle House together and eat our breakfast the way my granddad would…my granddad is sitting down next to us in spirit. I miss him a lot and seem feel a little bit closer to him when I am at Waffle House.

So, every time I’m back in Georgia, my dad and I make sure we go on a Waffle House date! It’s one of my favorite things.

My Week With a Movie

happy

I had so much fun with My Week with Marilyn that I decided that I should do a series called, “My Week with a Movie”.  I will spend the week diving into a movie and exploring its themes. I thought I should start this series with the movie, “The Pursuit of Happyness.”  There a couple reasons for this choice….

1. It is so touching and inspirational (and I love touching and inspirational).

2. Will Smith and I have the same coach.  Will came and spoke to our studio… so I have a story from this movie and also some Will Wisdom I would like to share.

3.  I am currently in pursuit of my happiness, so I thought it would be appropriate.

So I present to you, THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS!

I want to start my “Week with a Movie” with a little review of the movie, but every time I started to write a review for this movie, I felt like my words didn’t give the movie and the performances the justice it deserves.  So I thought I would show you 4 clips (that speak for themselves) that show Chris Gardner’s Struggle, Opportunity, Pursuit and Happiness.
